Custom-Built Mahjong Tables Ready for OEMC 2026
Preparations for OEMC 2026 are well underway, and one of the most exciting projects currently in progress is the construction of our custom mahjong tables.
The tables are being built with the help of Boland Snickeri from Uppsala Municipality. Each table features a sturdy 22 mm thick chipboard base, topped with carefully installed wooden strips to create a durable and practical playing surface.
To provide an excellent playing experience, we have chosen a blue blackout curtain fabric from IKEA as the table covering. The material offers a pleasant amount of friction, helping tiles stay in place while remaining easy to handle. The blue playing surface also creates a striking contrast with the yellow mahjong tiles, inspired by the colors of the Swedish flag.
The tables are designed to be both robust and portable. Each tabletop measures 83 x 83 cm and weighs approximately 10 kg. The legs consist of four sturdy IKEA legs that can easily be screwed on and off for transportation and storage. Together, the legs weigh approximately 2 kg, bringing the total table weight to around 12 kg.
Following OEMC, we will offer a limited number of these tables for sale at a price of only €46 (500 SEK), which corresponds to the material cost. Buyers can collect their tables directly after the competition.
For those who prefer shipping, tables can also be sent by mail, although the buyer will be responsible for the full shipping cost.
